We all familiarize ourselves with the adrenaline rush experienced when our favourite football or soccer team hit that goal. Well, what if you get to experience that version of it on regular basis! If it sounds impossible then think again. Lead the Life with goals and you would get the point.
Why goals? Why even bother?
Goals and resolutions are associated as the things we set out to do on every new years eve and dump them as soon as it gets harder or makes us get out of comfort zone. With small amounts of self-discipline (it's easier done as said trust me) and seriousness, you can commit
yourself to life long goals or monthly goals and that feeling after accomplishing, 10×times better than the adrenaline rush. It's mixture of dopamine boost from a job well done and self-satisfaction.
So, the first step is, setting specific goals.
For goals, you can search deep inside of yourself and figure out what you always wanted to do.
Maybe you wanted to learn to cook or play the guitar, maybe you wanted to get in better shape or maybe it has something to do with improvement like how to improve your coding skills or memory; it can be something useful for your studies or career and it can be something
you always dreamt of doing.
With super fast internet in our hands' lack of resources, wouldn't be the problem. Search something you enjoy and want to commit to. You can set 1 goal or 10, the choice is yours. The more specific the goal, the easier it would be to accomplish. Replacing reading or sports in place
of less screen time or replacing 40 mins walk or 30 mins workout daily in place of healthier lifestyle goals would be beneficial.
Write it down in paper or in the phone and have a reminder to at least spend some time daily looking at the lists. Now the next thing would be, implementation of those goals, the harder but the most rewarding part.
Procrastination, laziness, & the time factors are the most common complaint about giving up. That's why it's important to plan. The plan is thoroughly and uses WOOP technique. Wish Outcome Obstacles and Plan. Basically it means to look at your goals(wish) and see the end result and benefit of it. Then the obstacles that you may face and how to overcome or avoid them, if the Obstacle is a phone then you can shut it off or use a focused/blocking app and in fact, you can use that Obstacle by setting reminders and plans throughout.
It takes a little hard work and dedication but the rewards and outcomes are the sweet fruits of the labour. Goals have shown to provide a purpose in life and boost happiness and well being too. There are tons of benefits to goal setting. After all, who wouldn't like to fall asleep with a dream and wake up with a purpose?
